The answer is yes and no. Yes if you have a strategy that determines what platforms your target audience uses; are able to maintain those mediums and are good for interactive communication. No if you try to support everything is out there; have not done the research to know if your potential audience finds value in the mediums you wish to communicate on and if you can only maintain them sporadically. Social media is not a quick fix or used for immediate ROI, it is about a two way conversation and building your brand reputation online. Think of it this way – you can become an over night success, but if you want to sustain that level of popularity beyond 15 minutes of fame it takes planning, strategy and tools to get yourself out there and to stay on top.

What are the benefits of blogging?
Blogging is an opportunity for you to communicate on a personal level what is happening within your organization. Unlike a structured Press or News Release, a blog enables you to convey personal work experiences enabling a corporation to provide a face and personality behind the brand. The trick in blogging is to make it interesting to your target audience; informative so they want to feed into it and share; manageable so that it maintained on a regular schedule (which also helps with SEO) and is an open line of communication allowing comments and feedback.

Do I really need a website?
In short – Yes! The majority of people now a day go online to research products, services and reviews before contacting or making a purchase. Social Media has empowered buyers with knowledge and personal experiences through reviews, bloggers and tweets enabling them to make well informed purchasing decisions. Your website supports your business, is an integral part of your marketing, sales and PR and should be designed and managed to reflect your corporate brand, culture and communication strategy. Its like online dating – you want to put your best face forward and make a great first impression…

Is it a good idea to start a business with a partner?
Yes – as long as both of you don’t overlap in the same talent pool and each brings something complimentary and unique to each other and the company. Having a businesses partner helps alleviate stresses, gives you someone that you can rely on when dealing with work or personal matters that may take you away from the business a period of time and most importantly both of you must have the same vision and trust in each other to make it work.

Why is branding important?
With every brand there is the graphic and the tag line. One should be subjective and the other descriptive to capture your corporate mandate and culture. So for example:
ABC Company – We make Chairs (subjective – descriptive) or Tulips are Us – Beauty Thrives Here! (descriptive – subjective)
You don’t want to combine two subjective brand name and tag line as you will spend a ton of money getting your brand recognition…it works for Nike – Just Do It but they spend millions per year and have developed their brand through time.
Bottom line is that your brand is important…it represents you…kind of like if you had to tattoo a symbol onto your forehead you would want to make sure that it is something that lasts, clearly defines who you are and quickly captures your personality in a visual sense.
